Degree Options

"The creative industries are recognized as a growing sector in the national economy, employing around 30 percent of the working population."1 The job market for artists and related workers is expected to increase by 13 percent by 2020. The Art & Design program at Kishwaukee College is preparing students to meet this demand in a world increasingly driven by visual media.

Our lives and experiences are impacted by design and visual culture. Whether one pursues a career in the commercial arts or the fine arts, society will always have a need and a demand for those with the training, skills, and creativity that an art education can provide.

Art has the capacity to enrich each person by providing an outlet for expression that can be pursued and expanded throughout a lifetime. Whether making a model out of clay, designing a website, carving plaster, or making a series of sketches, the study and creation of art has many benefits. Art enhances one’s spatial skills, hand-eye coordination, problem solving, and aids in visual thinking.

At Kishwaukee College, you will be able to feed your creative mind, master new techniques and tools, hone your craftsmanship, and develop confidence to imagine, visualize, and communicate.
